Who we are

A Foundation of Chesed and Torah Support

Matan B’Seser – Kiryat Sefer was founded in 1994, together with the establishment of the city itself.

From the very beginning, the mission was clear: to support families in need with dignity, while safeguarding the ability of Torah scholars to continue their learning.

What began as a local tzedaka has grown into a central pillar of support for the city’s Torah families – operating daily, throughout the year.

Because a strong community begins with strong homes.

Ongoing Support

Shabbos Food Basket

Hundreds of families, carefully selected by the city’s rabbonim, receive generous food baskets, filling their homes with simcha and dignity in honor of Shabbos.

Food Vouchers

Families in need shop at their local supermarket using money or vouchers deposited on their behalf, allowing them to purchase groceries without compromising their dignity.

Bread Distribution

More than 1,500 families are not left without bread, thanks to distribution at multiple locations throughout the city.

Materna

Hundreds of families receive monthly nutritional support for infants through Materna formula boxes, ensuring proper nourishment for their babies.

The Somchot Department provides hands-on support and personal guidance to families navigating financial and domestic challenges. Trained and certified Somchot (mentors) meet directly with families, offering practical direction on how to strengthen and stabilize the home.

Their role extends beyond guidance – they walk alongside each family, helping them build structure, responsibility, and long-term resilience. Somchot also coordinate with relevant agencies, ensuring families receive all benefits to which they are legally entitled.

Through compassionate mentorship and professional training, the Somchot empower families not only to cope – but to grow stronger and more self-sufficient.
